How an Olympic medal launched a ski resort
Back in 1960, a young skier from Morzine, the first Olympian to compete on metal skis, won the Olympic Men’s Downhill gold medal in Squaw Valley. Jean Vuarnet was just 27. In 1966, on the strength of his celebrity, he founded the ski resort of Avoriaz, extending the ski area to incorporate Franco-Swiss space. It quickly became the first international ski area in the world. In the meantime, leisure real estate expanded rapidly, attracting both small and large investors and turning MORZINE-AVORIAZ into a flagship destination in the French Alps.
The recent expansion of low-cost airlines enhanced our accessibility to our European neighbours. With this white gold rush a plethora of real estate agents sprung up and customers have lost their bearings. While the ski area may be vast, Morzine is a village that has retained its traditional flavour, with a charming local market. A local agency, with a long-term history the area, which has resisted the call of franchise companies and other major corporations, is obviously the best choice if what you require is a personalised service and accompaniment throughout the various steps involved in successfully completing your real estate project. We are also a member of the international FNAIM organisation, a guarantee of ethical practices.
